Gambian tourism season has started with arrivals of 325 tourists from Russia on Monday morning.
Authorities of the Gambia Tourism Board (GTb) were at the foot of the aircraft to receive the Russian tourists at the Banjul International Airport.
Another flight, Tui Holland first winter flight, arrived in the afternoon, few hours after the arrival of the Russians with over 100 tourists.
And a third flight of the season, Corendon flight from Amsterdam, is expected on the 15 of October, according to the authorities.
Meanwhile, Gambian authorities are expecting to receive 200, 000 tourists this year. Gambia’s tourism season takes a four-month period but GTb is working on making it all-year-round.
The Gambia Experience winter flight is also expected on 19 of October.
This flight will be followed by Tui Belgium first flight which is expected to arrive on October 26. On October 30, Thomas Cook is also expected to land with another batch of tourists.
And on November 3, the first Corendon flight from Maastricht, Austria, is also expected to arrive in the country.
Another flight from Thomas Cook is expected in the country on November 1.
