Training for 20 Gambian journalists on investigative journalism has began at Senegambia on Monday. The training was conducted by the Gambia Press Union in partnership with German NGO Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.

This is the second batch of training on investigative journalism GPU organized for Gambian journalists since August 2019.

Gambia is emerging from two decades of dictatorship that has seriously affected the media.

The GPU is working hard to train young journalists with interest in investigative journalism to fill the void in the country’s media landscape in terms of quality reporting.

“This is the best time to train people on investigative journalism given that Gambia is emerging from a dictatorship and money is coming into the country. People need to know where these monies are going,” said Sheriff Bojang Jr, President of the GPU.

The 5-day training is being conducted by Raymond Joseph, a South African journalism trainer, and freelance journalist and fact-checker.
