A native of Brikama has died at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital after she was reportedly hit by a stray bullet during military training at the firing range in Brikama Nyanbai forest.
Fatou Manneh, lady in her forties, succumbed to the “wound” on Saturday, two days after she was reportedly hit.
“We have opened an investigation to ascertain how she died and we are also working with her family for the funeral arrangement,” Major Sanyang told Kerr Fatu.
The army visited the family of the deceased on Saturday, the PRO has said.
Manneh’s remains are currently at the EFTH.
Corporal Lance Bojang firing range has been used for training by army for years but a lot of natives in Brikama also used the place to fetch firewood.
The army usually makes a public announcement when holding firing exercises.
