Westminster Foundation appoints Activist Jobarteh as country director

An outspoken Gambian activist, Madi Jobarteh, has been appointed as the country director for Westminster Foundation, Kerr Fatou has learned.

The appointment which has been confirmed by Jobarteh on Tuesday had come into effect few weeks ago.

The UK-based charity is currently working with Gambia’s National Assembly to strengthen their capacity in areas of public scrutiny and accountability in governance.

The foundation is helping the lawmaking body to strengthen its oversight functions and boost its capacity in the area of communications.

The National Assembly is working on digitizing its hansards, the public records that captures the activities of lawmakers on sessions.

The Westminster Foundation is the organisation created to direct the charitable giving of the Grosvenor family and businesses.

The Foundation was established in 1974 by the Fifth Duke of Westminster (Robert George Grosvenor).
