Security presence at OIC in “anticipation of Taal’s appearance”

There is a heavy security presence at the secretariat of Organization of Islamic Cooperation reportedly in anticipation of the appearance of Amamy Taal, the legal adviser of the institution who was sacked last week.

Taal was reportedly sacked by President Adama Barrow but he challenged the decision as “illegal”.

He told journalists last week that he would challenge his sacking in court.

However, a number of Gambian political commentators and activists, among them Madi Jobarteh, have asked him to disregard the letter of his sacking and show up at work.

On Friday, the armed wing of the police apparently showed up at the office to prevent him from entering in case he comes to work, sources informed Kerr Fatou.

Taal never showed up. Close to a dozen paramilitary officers could be seen at the office complex of the OIC.
