President Adama Barrow Saturday 14th July 2018 received in audience members of the Ajamat Foundation and Executive Members of the opposition APRC party in Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region at the State House in Banjul.

The Executives of the foundation were at the Presidency to express solidarity and show unflinching support and loyalty to the President of the Republic Adama Barrow and his government.

The association, which has a prominent presence in Foni and all communities that identify with the Ajamat society, said they are fully behind his administration and would like to choose the President as their Grand Patron and Father.

All the speakers, including the Chairman of Ajamat Foundation, Modou Lamin Sanyang, and former State House Imam, Ebrima Jarjue, were quite unambiguous in their willingness to support the President and his government.

“We are very ready and willing to work with your administration to move this country forward ’’ was the recurrent theme throughout the speeches.

The speakers indicated that the association cuts across Foni and the entire Jola community in both The Gambia and beyond.

They told the President that they are his greatest ally in his effort to reconcile and unite the whole country.

‘’The elders sitting in front of you are quite influential and come from across the five districts of Foni. Through them you can effortlessly have the support of the whole of Foni behind you. Please have peace of mind with the people of Foni. We are behind you, ’’ one of them declared stating that they would demonstrate their love for him upon entering into Kalagi during his nationwide tour.

They described President Barrow as one of their own, giving that two of his siblings are married in Foni, and praised him as a great champion of peace and unity.

The President welcomed the initiative and told them that he has ever considered the Foni as part of his broader mandate to serve The Gambia. He added that the respect he has got for the region could be traced as far back to the days before he ventured into politics.

“Therefore, I am not politicking. I am just reaffirming what I hold dear from the beginning. I would love to work with the people of Foni to develop the country,” Barrow said.

Others speakers included Henry Gomze, Special Adviser to the President; Yusupha Cham, Political Adviser to the President, Dou Sanno, Dpt Political Adviser to the President, among others.

The President also met the representatives of the National Executive Council of APRC in West Coast Region and Kanifing Municipality.
