According to a press release from the country’s seat of power, President Adama Barrow has on Saturday afternoon received in audience 18 former APRC Governors and National Assembly members.

The former officials, who were drawn from across the country, met the President to express solidarity and support to the new government.

However, the statement from the presidency did not say if all of them have effecfively left the former ruling party but people like Suku Singhateh have switched allegiance  to United Democratic Party.

“Under the leadership of Hon. Suku Singhateh and Lamin Queen Jammeh, the delegation was quite clear in their message that they fully pledge allegiance and loyalty to the President in his drive to develop the Gambia,” the presidency said.

Meanwhile, despite the mood at the presidency on the need for reconciliation, meeting APRC members is likely to anger victims of the former regime who accused Barrow of not having strong committment for justice.

The APRC that is accused of several rights violations is unapologetic of their past actions.

A recent recording of a telephone conversation with their former ruler Yahya Jammeh was leaked online where the party’s former ruler was heard vowing to come back to Gambia.
