Fatou Touray, the CEO of Kerr Fatou has ruled out any apology to the minister and has vowed to stand by the story

Gambia’s Agriculture Minister, Omar Jallow, has demanded public apology from Kerr Fatou or he’ll sue the news outlet following its recent article linking him to expired fertilizer deal.

Kerr Fatou, one of Gambia’s leading news websites, last week published a report which cited a leaked official document linking Jallow to sale of consignments of expired fertilizer in neighbouring Senegal.

Jallow, who did not refute the sale of the fertilizer in Senegal said he was not aware of the contract and he did not sign it.

However, the contract for the disposal of the fertilizer was signed between Modou Dibba and the agriculture ministry on May 24, 2017, about four months after Jallow’s appointment as minister.

He referred to Kerr Fatou report as ‘treacherous’ and ‘unjustified’ news to defame him.

“I have not known anything about the contract long after it was signed,” said Jallow.

He claimed the disposal of the fertilizer was in line with the procedures, though the Kerr Fatou report showed that the disposal was against the advice from the National Envronmental Agency.

Meanwhile, Fatou Touray, the CEO of Kerr Fatou has ruled out any apology to the minister and has vowed to stand by the story.
