Lawyer Yankuba Darboe one of the leadership of the “3 Years Jotna” group is currently in police and charged with two counts.
“I have been however asked by the Police to report to Serious Crime Unit today for more charges!”, he said on Facebook, “they said I am charged with Insulting the Judiciary and Sedition as the new charges, which I reported for today and as usual detained since early morning and likely to be detained here for the rest of the day, whilst waiting for orders from the top!”
The incident occurred two days after Darboe and 8 other colleagues of the “3 Years Jotna” group attended High Court on Tuesday 2 March 2021, on the reinstituted charges previously brought against them by the State in the trial they were discharged by the High Court on 10 February 2021, before their re-arrested on the same date.
Darboe and 8 other colleagues have been on trial on the protest staged by the group in January 2021.
