Indian President Ram Nath Kovind has promised his Government’s support to Gambia in areas of skills development.

At a joint press briefing at the State House with President Adama Barrow, President Kovind thanked the Gambian leader for his determination in ensuring democracy and inclusive growth in The Gambia.

Kovind said they have pledged to support Gambia half a million dollars to improve skills development, improvement of judiciary, among others.

The two countries have signed a memorandum of understanding in the area of medicine.

“We are keen to implement a grant-based solar system in villages in the Gambia,” said Kovind.

The Indian President has arrived in the country on Tuesday and he lives on Wednesday after addressing the National Assembly.

This is the first visit of an Indian President to the Gambia.
