Gamjobs has recently organized a training workshop for job seekers on CV writing and elevator at the American corner, along Kairaba Avenue.

The event brought together over 30 participants from different disciplines that were taken through the different steps of writing a good CV, things included in CV and how to adapt CV to different job positions.

Participants were also taken through confident building and making a good elevator speech needed to convince an interviewer to offer you a job.

The training was facilitated by the CEO of Gamjob, Mr. Ebrima S. Dem. In his opening statement, Dem introduced participants to the services of Gamjobs, including career orientation and CV evaluation.

He also said Gamjobs is an online job platform through which employers are always looking for top talent to hire.  In essence, he said they have a CV database of 2000 professionals that are qualified and ready to get job done.

CEO Dem, however, lamented the lack of CV writing skill among many Gambian applicants, especially young professionals. This, he said, reduces their access to job opportunities even though some maybe highly qualified.

He said, the way some present their CV limits their chance of getting hired for the position they applied. He advised job seekers to invest time on their CVs and present them in a good way.

“CVs are a marketing tool,” said Jassey.

At the end of training participants were give evaluation forms to rate the event, of which 83% agreed that the training has met their expectation and 89.7% believe that training would be useful in their job search.

Speaking on behalf trainees, Fatou Sallah, thank Gamjobs for the initiative, which she said was new, useful and innovative. She recommended the training to be continuous process and be extended to other job seekers especially those in the up country.
